I just got a Leica SL2 for my honeymoon in Italy and omg I have no clue what lenses to buy!
someone said Sigma Art lenses fit but I'm so confused which one is good on this camera... I was thinking maybe the 35mm? sorry if this is dumb but I'm totally new to this...
Congrats on the SL2, that camera is a total beast but man, it can be a struggle to find the right glass for it. I actually went through a phase where I bought a bunch of Sigma Art lenses for mine and honestly... some were a total letdown. I started with the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG DN Art L-Mount because everyone talks about it, but unfortunately, I had some real issues with it. The autofocus kept hunting in the shade, and it just wasnt as sharp as I expected for a camera with that much resolution. Kind of a bummer when youre paying that much money, ya know? If youre really set on that focal length, the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art L-Mount is the one everyone drools over, but its seriously like carrying a literal brick around. Not exactly what you want for a honeymoon in Italy unless you want a neck ache by day two lol. Honestly, I was way more impressed with the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG DN Art L-Mount. I had low expectations after the 35mm, but it ended up being my favorite for portraits. If you want something smaller for walking around Rome or whatever, maybe skip the Art line for a sec and check out the Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary L-Mount. Its way lighter and the build quality is still super nice. It might not be an Art lens but it gets the job done without making you miserable and ruining your trip photos.
