Looking for recommended video lenses for new release Z6 III, any good suggestions ?
Like someone mentioned, the S-line glass is the dream but my bank account said no thanks lol. I have been using my Z6 III for a few months now and found some cheaper ways to get great video without the professional price tag.
- Nikon NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8: I went with this instead of the fancy 24-70. It is super light which makes it way easier to balance on my gimbal. The constant aperture is great for low light and I havent noticed any issues with the video quality for my vlogs.
- Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2: This little guy is honestly a steal. Its tiny, looks natural for b-roll, and the autofocus is snappy enough for my talking head shots when I am traveling light.
- Tamron 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD for Nikon Z: If you need reach on a budget, this works well. It doesnt have VR in the lens but the Z6 III IBIS handles it fine for most of my handheld stuff. Really happy with this setup so far. It basically does everything I need and I dont feel like I am missing out on much... definitely worth checking out if you are just starting.
I've been geeking out over the focus breathing specs on my current setup! Honestly, the Z6 III handles the metadata so much better than my old rig. I was doing some intense testing yesterday with a specific wide prime I just got, and the linear focus response is a total game changer for my gimbal work. Ngl, I spent hours analyzing the corner sharpness at f/1.8 and it is just phenomenal compared to what I was using last year. The way the internal VR works with the lens optics really smooths out those micro-jitters too. I switched over to a fast zoom for a quick run-and-gun shoot this morning and the autofocus tracking didn't miss a single beat! Really loving how the tech has evolved... it finally feels like the hardware is catching up to the bitrates we're pushing now. Truly amazing stuff!

Cine Lenses:
- While Nikon doesn't offer dedicated cine lenses, third-party options like those from Sigma or Zeiss can be used with an adapter.
Remember that all of these are native Z-mount lenses, which will provide the best performance with the Z6 III. If you have F-mount lenses, you can use them with the FTZ II adapter, though you may experience some limitations in autofocus performance.
