I just got the Z6 III, suggest me a budget lens below $1000 to go with.
Ugh, I feel the pain in this thread. Seriously, it has been a total nightmare trying to kit out the Z6 III without spending another two grand. I've tried so many setups over the years and the budget Z glass situation right now is just... frustrating.
- Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2: Love the size, but the build feels like a toy. I have had weird communication errors where the camera just stops recognizing it mid-shoot. Not what you want on a brand new body.
- Nikon NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8: It is okay on paper, but in my experience, the autofocus consistency just isnt there compared to the S-line. I have missed way too many shots because it decided to hunt at the worst time.
- Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S: You can find these used for cheap, but the retracting mechanism is just another thing to break and it feels so dated on a new Z6 III. Honestly, it is like we are being forced to choose between breaking the bank or dealing with gear that feels like it is holding the sensor back. I am right there with you guys, still searching for something that actually fits the bill without the compatibility headaches. Let me know if you find a magic bullet because I am still looking too!
I'm actually dealing with this exact same issue right now and it has been incredibly disappointing. I've been an experienced shooter for years, but finding a reliable budget lens for the Z6 III that meets my professional standards is proving to be impossible for me.
- I have been hunting for a solution for nearly two months now with zero luck
- unfortunately every option I've researched under $1000 seems to have build quality issues that I just cant overlook for my work
- it is genuinely frustrating that I still havent found a definitive answer despite my history with the system I'm basically stuck in the same loop you are... its been a long search and honestly I still have nothing to show for it.

Big if true
Can vouch for this
^ This. Honestly i am in the exact same boat and it is so frustrating! I have been a Nikon shooter for years and i have been scouring the internet for like three months now trying to find that perfect budget glass for my Z6 III but literally nothing is hitting the mark for me. It is seriously driving me insane because i love this camera so much, it is a fantastic piece of kit, but finding a lens under $1000 that dont feel like a total compromise is proving impossible... definitely feeling the struggle right now!
No way, I literally just dealt with this yesterday. Small world.
