So I'm finally heading to Tokyo in three weeks and I'm so hyped but I'm totally stuck on what lens to bring. I have a Nikon D3500 and only the kit lens right now.
My logic was maybe I need a big zoom for like buildings and stuff but then people say those are heavy? I have about $400 to spend and I just want one lens that stays on the camera the whole time so I dont have to carry a bunch of gear. I keep seeing things like 18-140 and 18-300 and my brain is melting trying to figure out the difference lol. What should a total newbie get for a first big trip?...

I would suggest the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR for your trip. You might want to consider that the 18-300mm is often quite heavy for the small D3500...
- Be careful with balance; a front-heavy setup gets tiring.
- The 18-140mm is typically sharper and more versatile. Make sure to find a used copy so you dont go over budget. Its a safer bet.
