Im heading to Japan next month and need one solid lens for my Z6ii. I keep seeing people rave about the 24-120mm f4 for travel, but I honestly worry that f4 wont be enough for low light stuff at night. Should I just save up for the 24-70 f2.8 instead or is that overkill for a hobbyist?

Honestly, if you are really worried about night shots in Japan, maybe just look into the Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 as a second lens. Its super tiny and cheap, so you can keep it in your jacket pocket for when it gets dark. I did this on my last trip and it saved me from carrying the heavy Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S everywhere. The 24-120 is totally fine for day stuff, but f/4 can get noisy on the Z6ii once you hit those dark alleyways in Tokyo. Having a tiny prime for night street photography is a total game changer and way easier to manage than lugging around a massive f/2.8 zoom. Plus, you wont feel like a tourist with a giant setup, which is nice tbh.
