Should I pull the trigger on the Nikon 85mm f1.8G or would the 50mm f1.4G be better for taking pictures at my sisters graduation in two weeks? I finally saved up for a used D750 and I am so pumped to start doing real portrait work but now Im stuck on which glass to get first. I mostly do outdoor stuff like in parks or downtown and my budget is strictly under 500 bucks right now so the f1.4 85mm is way out of reach lol. The 85mm seems like the king for that blurry background look but I am worried it might be too tight if we are at the party afterwards and I need to get more than one person in the frame. But then the 50mm feels a bit more versatile maybe? I dont know. I want those really creamy shots where the background just melts away because the park we are going to has some kinda ugly fences in the back. Ive seen some people swear by the 50mm for versatility but every pro video I watch says 85mm is the way to go for faces. If I can only afford one right now which one is gonna give me that wow factor for her big day...
