Ive been shooting for years but finally swapped my old Canon gear for a Sony A7IV and the sheer amount of glass for E-mount is giving me choice paralysis. I thought I knew what I wanted but then I saw all the Sigma and Tamron options and now Im just confused. I need a solid three-lens kit for a trip to the PNW next month so weather sealing is a big deal.

Requirements:

  • Budget around 3k total (used is fine)
  • Wide for landscapes
  • Fast prime for portraits
  • Fast AF for my dog

What are the absolute non-negotiables? I keep hearing about the 24-70 GMII but thatll eat my whole budget...

Forget that GM II! First, I love the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Sony E because it matches GM performance for half the price, tho it is heavier. Second, for landscapes, the Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G is way sharper than bulky zooms. Lastly, the Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 is amazing for dogs because it tracks focus faster than the heavy f/1.4 version! This kit is perfect.
