Ive been shooting Sony full frame for like five years now and normally I know my gear inside out but Im completely stuck trying to find that one elusive do-it-all lens. Im heading to Japan in about two months for a three-week trip where Im gonna be doing a mix of street photography, low light temple shots, and some casual hiking in Kyoto, and I really dont want to be swapping primes every two minutes while carrying a heavy backpack in the humidity. Everyone always says just grab a 24-70mm f2.8 GMII and be done with it cause its the ultimate Swiss Army knife, but then someone else chimes in saying the Tamron 28-75 is lighter and cheaper or that I need a fast prime for the evenings. My budget is around 1500 to 2000 bucks max, and I just need something sharp across the frame that wont destroy my back after walking twelve miles a day. What is the absolute best all-around lens for any Sony camera that actually lives up to the hype without making me compromise too much on image quality or weight?
