I have been staring at review videos for three hours and I am just more confused now. I got an a6000 and I need one decent lens for my sister's wedding next month but I really cant spend more than $250 tops. I am totally torn between the Sigma 30mm f1.4 and the Sony 35mm f1.8.
My logic was the Sigma is sharper and faster but it doesnt have OSS and my camera is old so I'm worried about shaky shots. But then the Sony is smaller but maybe too tight for indoors? I keep going back and forth and its driving me nuts. Which one is actually gonna be more useful for a crowded event...
Seriously, you gotta go with the Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC DN Contemporary if you want that pro look! The extra light from f1.4 is a total lifesaver for indoor receptions.
- Sigma 30mm: Incredible sharpness and way better colors tbh.
- Sony E 50mm f1.8 OSS: Perfect for those tight headshots plus it has OSS. I think the Sigma wins on image quality alone... just bump your shutter speed and you wont even miss the stabilization!
> Seriously, you gotta go with the Sigma 30mm... Regarding what #2 said about that Sigma lens, i totally agree that f1.4 is a total lifesaver for dim lighting! But if youre worried about crowded spaces, 30mm can feel really cramped indoors tbh. I absolutely love the Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 AF Sony E-mount for events like this. Its wider so you can actually get the whole family in the shot without backing into a wall lol! Plus the autofocus is surprisingly snappy for the price. Another fantastic option is the TTArtisan 27mm f/2.8 AF Sony E. Its a pancake lens so its light as air, and it leaves you enough cash to maybe buy a used flash which youll definitely need! Honestly... a wider lens is just way more versatile for a wedding. You got this, the a6000 is still a beast!
Been using this for years, no complaints
Same setup here, love it
Honestly, id go for the Sony E 35mm f/1.8 OSS for a wedding. Since the a6000 has no stabilization, you really might want to consider the safety of OSS for low-light shots. Be careful with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary because blurry photos are a nightmare if you dont have steady hands.
- Look for used deals to stay under $250
- Make sure to practice beforehand Its just way safer for a big day.
