Panasonic Lumix S 18-40mm F4.5-6.3 Lens Announced for $497.99, Available for Pre-Order

Panasonic has just announced the new 18-40mm F4.5-6.3 lens. This new lens costs $497.99, first available for pre-order at Amazon/ B&H/ Adorama.

Claimed to be the world’s smallest and lightest full-frame zoom lens, the Panasonic Lumix 18-40mm f/4.5-6.3 weighs just 5.5 oz and measures 1.6 inches long. It delivers impressive corner-to-corner resolution across its versatile zoom range, making it ideal for landscapes, architecture, and candid shots. With a maximum aperture and a minimum focusing distance of 5.9 inches, it also produces pleasing bokeh. The lens features a sophisticated optical design with three aspherical elements, two extra-low dispersion elements, and one ultra-high refractive element. When used with the Lumix S9’s Hybrid Zoom function, it extends the zoom range to 18-120mm and minimizes focus breathing for video shooters.

Additionally, its lightweight design is complemented by dust, splash, and freeze resistance, making it suitable for challenging weather conditions. A fluorine coating on the front element further protects against water, oil, and debris.
