According to NR, recent developments suggest that Nikon is gearing up to announce two new tilt-shift lenses for Z-mount: an 18mm (possibly 20mm) and an 85mm.
This rumor comes on the heels of the discontinuation of the PC NIKKOR 19mm f/4E ED tilt-shift lens for the Nikon F-mount. Several Japanese stores, including Camera Kitamura, Map Camera, Bic Camera, and Yodobashi Camera, have listed the lens as either discontinued or out of production. In the United States, the lens is still available through Adorama (special order), Amazon, and B&H Photo Video (grey market only).
The PC NIKKOR 19mm f/4E ED, announced in 2016, was a popular choice among photographers who required perspective control and the ability to correct converging verticals in their images. The lens’s discontinuation has led to speculation that Nikon is preparing to release updated tilt-shift options for its mirrorless Z-mount system.
If the rumors prove true, the new 18mm (or 20mm) and 85mm tilt-shift lenses will provide Z-mount users with greater flexibility in architectural, landscape, and product photography. Tilt-shift lenses allow photographers to control the plane of focus and correct perspective distortions, resulting in images with stunning sharpness and depth.
As Nikon continues to expand its mirrorless lens lineup, the addition of tilt-shift options will further solidify the Z-mount system as a serious contender for professional photographers. Enthusiasts eagerly await official announcements from Nikon regarding the rumored 18mm and 85mm tilt-shift lenses.
