What is the best all-around lens for the R5 Mark II because Im honestly losing my mind trying to choose? I'm torn between the 24-70 f2.8 and the 24-105 f4 for my Italy trip next month but the f2.8 is so heavy and the f4 feels like a compromise for low light. Budget is capped at 2300 now...

Re: "In my experience, the Canon RF 24-105mm f4L..." - spot on! I love that setup. Honestly, the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is the ultimate travel king for Italy.

  • IBIS: The Canon EOS R5 Mark II has amazing stabilization so you can shoot handheld in dark churches at f/4!
  • Cost: Save that extra $1000 for amazing pasta and wine instead.
  • Reach: 105mm is much better for architecture details!

Listen, for an Italy trip, I'd grab the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. Lugging the Canon RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM around all day is a gym workout you didnt ask for.

  • Extra reach is super helpful for distant architecture.
  • The R5 II handles high ISO so well that f4 is rarely a problem.
  • Lighter kit makes for a way better vacation.

In my experience, the Canon RF 24-105mm f4L IS USM is the way to go for Italy. Its way lighter for all that walking. If youre worried about the f4 compromise, just use the leftover budget to grab a Canon RF 35mm f1.8 Macro IS STM for night scenes. Its tiny, fast, and honestly way better for low light than the 24-70 anyway. You wont regret the lighter bag.
