Im getting so annoyed trying to pick a portrait lens for my R6. I rented the RF 85mm f1.2 and it was insane but honestly way out of my budget since I need to save for a trip to Japan in November. Now im stuck between the RF 85mm f2 macro and the Sigma 85mm f1.4 with the EF adapter. I dont have much space in my bag so the smaller native glass is tempting but I keep hearing the Sigma is sharper. Is it worth dealing with the extra weight and the adapter for the Sigma or should I just settle for the f2?

You really shouldn't underestimate the native AF performance, which is snappy for most portrait work. Are you planning on doing mostly environmental portraits or tight headshots while in Japan? That makes a big difference for gear choice. While the Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG HSM Art is undeniably sharp, adapting it adds bulk that you might regret when you are walking around all day. If you are trying to keep costs down for the trip, grab the native RF lens and maybe look for a used copy to save even more. It is definitely enough for high-quality portraits without the headache of the adapter.
TL;DR: Grab the Canon RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM. It is super light, tack sharp, and saves you cash for that Japan trip. Totally worth it imo!
Adding my two cents, I had issues with focus hunting on the adapter. Are you mostly shooting static subjects or moving kids? Honestly, the weight difference really adds up.
