Which prime lens do you recommend for Canon EOS R8 street photography?

So I recently upgraded to the Canon R8 after shooting with a heavy 5D Mark III for years. Honestly, the autofocus on this thing is mind-blowing compared to my old DSLR, and the weight savings are huge. But I've run into a bit of a dilemma with my lens setup. Right now, I'm adapting my old EF 35mm f/2 and it just feels totally front-heavy with the EF-to-RF adapter. It completely ruins the stealthy, compact vibe of the R8 body, which was the main reason I bought it for street stuff.

I have a trip to Seattle coming up in three weeks and I really want to grab a native RF prime to keep the setup as lightweight as possible. I'm trying to decide between a few options and my budget is strictly under $500.

Here are the ones I'm looking at:

  • RF 28mm f/2.8 STM pancake. This seems like the dream for pocketability, but I'm worried 28mm might be a bit too wide for my style. I usually shoot tighter. Also, no image stabilization on the lens, and since the R8 lacks IBIS, I'm worried about shaky shots at dusk.
  • RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM. It has stabilization which is great for the R8, but it looks a bit chunkier. Does it feel balanced on such a small body?
  • RF 50mm f/1.8 STM. Super cheap, but maybe a bit tight for busy city streets?

I'm really torn here. I want something that lets me blend in but still delivers sharp images without making the R8 feel awkward to hold one-handed. If you've used any of these primes specifically on the R8 for street shooting, how does the handling feel, and which focal length did you end up sticking with?

Im really satisfied with the R8.
