I just got my Canon R8 and I am trying to figure out which prime to grab before my trip to Tokyo next month. My budget is capped at like $500 since the body was pricey.
I did some digging and it seems like its a toss up between the RF 35mm f1.8 and the 50mm f1.8. I read the 35mm is amazing for street stuff because of the IS and macro but then some reviewers say the 50mm is a must-have first lens for the full frame look. Im torn because the 35mm is way more expensive and I dont know if the stabilization is really that big of a deal for handheld shots. Which one makes more sense as a first prime?

Grab the Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM. Since the R8 lacks IBIS, stabilization is huge for handheld stuff.
- 35mm: Better for Tokyo streets
- 50mm: Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM is cheap but shaky
