So I've been shooting portraits and weddings for like a decade now mostly with my 85mm and 35mm primes but my wife finally convinced me to go on this big hiking trip to Zion next month and I realized I don't actually own a proper wide angle lens for my D850. I'm usually an F-mount guy through and through but looking at the prices of the 14-24mm f/2.8 makes my head spin and I just cant justify that kind of cash for a one-off trip especially since I'm trying to save for some lighting gear. My logic was maybe finding a used 18-35mm G lens since it's light and I've heard the optics are surprisingly decent for the price but then I started thinking about the Irix 15mm Blackstone or Firefly because I dont mind manual focus for landscapes and everyone says the distortion is basically zero. I'm stuck between going for a zoom for the flexibility when hiking or just grabbing a sharp prime since I'll be on a tripod most of the time anyway. Budget is strictly under 500 bucks because I also need to buy a decent filter set and a new bag for the trails. Is the 20mm f/1.8G too narrow for those big canyon views or should I stick with something wider like the 16-35mm f/4 even though it's pushing the budget? I just want something that wont fall apart if it gets a bit of dust on it...
