Just booked a three-week trip to Japan for October and need a one-lens setup for my R50. Im stuck between the RF-S 18-150mm and the 24-240mm. The 18-150 is way lighter but is that extra reach on the 24-240 worth the weight and cost? I only have about $800 left to spend...

Honestly, go with the 18-150mm. I really wanted to love the Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM for the reach, but unfortunately it was a total letdown on the R50. It feels like you are holding a giant brick attached to a tiny cracker... the balance is just way off. Plus, starting at 24mm on a crop body is not as good as expected for those narrow streets in Tokyo because you cant get everything in the frame. I had issues with my wrist after a day of walking around with it too. The Canon RF-S 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM is so much more practical and its usually under $500. Having that 18mm wide end is way more important for travel than the extra zoom, trust me. Youll be much happier with the lighter kit.
