Honestly so fed up with my current setup right now. My old rebel has been acting up for months and the shutter mechanism finally gave out on me while I was trying to get some shots of my puppy in the backyard yesterday. Super frustrated because I have a trip to the mountains coming up in two weeks and I really dont have the cash to drop two grand on a brand new body right now. Im looking to stay under 600 bucks total if possible. I tried browsing a couple of those random sketchy sites that popped up on google but everything looked like a scam or super overpriced and I just dont want to get burned again. Im based in Ohio if that even matters for shipping and stuff but yeah I just need something dependable for landscape photography because my phone is just not cutting it anymore.

Does anyone actually know of any reliable sites for refurbished DSLR camera sales where they dont ship you a brick? Really getting desperate to get something in my hands before I leave for my trip...

man that shutter death right before a trip is the worst feeling ever. sorry about your rebel biting the dust. unfortunately some of those google results are total garbage scams so its smart you avoided them. i ve bought a bunch of gear over the years and learned the hard way which places actually test their stuff.

  • mpb.com is usually my go to. they grade condition honestly and prices are way below retail.
  • keh camera is another solid veteran spot with a real warranty. prices fluctuate but you can easily grab something like a Canon EOS 80D 24.2MP DSLR well under your budget right now. both sites actually inspect the sensors and shutters before listing so you wont get a brick shipped to ohio. good luck getting it in time!

To add to the point above: in my experience, sticking to trusted platforms with actual shutter count transparency is the only way to avoid getting scammed. I ve bought three bodies through MPB and KEH over the years and never had an issue. You can easily grab a solid Canon EOS 80D 24.2MP DSLR right around that 500 dollar mark with verified low clicks. Just check the grading system closely before checking out.

> really dont have the cash to drop two grand on a brand new body right now I totally get that budget crunch. Been there when my gear died right before a trip. Might want to consider looking at a used Canon EOS 80D 24.2MP DSLR body if you stay with the same lens mount. You can find them under your budget pretty easily right now. Just make sure to check return policies before clicking buy!
