Anyone know if there are legit discounts for the Fujifilm X-T5 right now? Ive been looking at B&H and Adorama and they have these student discounts, but Im not a student anymore so that doesnt help me much. I also saw some weirdly cheap listings on eBay for open box items but they ship from overseas and Im worried about the warranty stuff. Im trying to upgrade from my old X-T30 before a big trip to Japan next month and my budget is strictly under $1600 for the body. Is there like a summer sale coming up or maybe a coupon code I'm missing? I really dont want to pay full retail if there's a price drop around the corner...

Like someone mentioned, definitely skip those overseas sellers! It's way too risky and honestly not worth the headache before your big trip. If you want a safe deal, look for used units at MPB or KEH so you wont go over budget. Also, grab a Lexar Professional 1667x 128GB SDXC UHS-II so you have reliable storage! You'll love it. It's seriously amazing. TL;DR: Stick to reputable used US shops to save cash safely.

Unfortunately, official sales for the Fujifilm X-T5 Mirrorless Camera Body have been pretty non-existent lately. I was hoping for a summer promo too, but Fuji has been super stingy since its selling so well. Honestly, Id stay far away from those overseas eBay listings. I had issues with a grey market camera once and getting it repaired was a total nightmare because they wont honor the warranty locally. Since you need to stay under $1600 for your Japan trip, here are some safer bets:

  • Check for used units on MPB or KEH. You can usually find a mint one for around $1550.
  • Keep an eye on the Fujifilm official refurbished store, tho they sell out in minutes.
  • Look into the Fujifilm X-S20 Mirrorless Camera Body if you can live without the dials, as it fits your budget better. Its really disappointing that prices arent moving much. If you go the used route, just make sure there's a return policy... Good luck with the trip!

Are you shooting mostly stills or video for the Japan trip? Technical requirements shift quite a bit between the two. I went the gray market route once:

  • Saved a few bucks but got no manufacturer warranty.
  • When the card slot failed, I bought a SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC V30 to test it.
  • Local shops wouldnt touch the body for repairs. The discount wasnt worth the stress.
