Does anyone know where I can actually find a legit deal on a Canon mirrorless right now because I am seriously losing my mind with my current setup? Honestly im so fed up with my old 80D, the autofocus has started acting up and it just hunts and hunts whenever I try to take a quick shot of my kids or even just some street stuff. I missed like half the shots at my sisters graduation last week and I was so embarrassed. Ive been a loyal Canon user for over ten years but man, the prices for the new R series are just killing me and I really need to upgrade before I have to shoot a friends backyard wedding in like three weeks. Im getting so anxious about it because I cant trust my current gear to last through a whole ceremony without glitching out or just flat out failing to lock focus.
I have been scouring the internet for an R6 Mark II or maybe even an R7 if the price is right but everything seems to be stuck at full retail price or its sold out everywhere I look. Im based in the Chicago area so I checked some local shops like Central Camera but they dont have any sales going on right now and I really dont want to pay over $2k for a body alone if I can help it. My budget is strictly around $1800 to $2000 max because I still need to save some for lenses since I know the RF glass isnt cheap either. Does anyone know if there are refurbished drops happening soon on the official Canon site or if any specific retailers like B&H or Adorama have some hidden coupons? I feel like I missed a big spring sale or something and now I'm stuck paying the "panic tax" because I waited too long to move on from my clunky DSLR.
Im even starting to look at used stuff on MPB or Keh but even there the prices for the R6 are barely lower than new. Its so frustrating because I see people talking about getting these amazing loyalty program discounts over the phone but every time I call I get told they arent running that promo anymore. Is it even worth looking at the R8 or is the battery life really as bad as people say for a whole wedding day? I just need something reliable that wont break the bank but the more I look the more frustrated I get with how expensive this hobby has become...
Man, I totally feel your pain with that autofocus struggle! I think I heard someone say Canon drops new refurbished stock on their site early on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings. Not 100 percent sure on the timing tho! Definitely check the official refurb store daily because the savings are amazing and you get a real warranty, which is fantastic for peace of mind!
