Im trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on a new mirrorless body now or wait for the fall sales. I read a few threads saying the new tech releases usually drop prices on older models by October, but then I see others claiming the supply chain stuff is gonna keep prices inflated way longer than that. My budget is around 1500 for a travel setup and I really want something reliable before my Japan trip in November. My logic was that buying used might save me some cash but I dont know if its worth the risk right now. Do you guys think the deals are actually coming or am I just setting myself up for disappointment by waiting?

Honestly, id just buy something now. I waited for sales last year thinking I would save a bundle, but unfortunately the prices barely budged and I ended up stressed out right before my trip. I once tried to save cash buying used gear and had issues with a sticky shutter mechanism that basically ruined half my photos. It was not as good as expected. Since you have a Japan trip in November, dont risk it. Pick up a Fujifilm X-S10 26.1MP Mirrorless or maybe a Sony Alpha a6400 24.2MP Mirrorless now so you can actually learn the menus before you leave. You really dont want to be messing with settings while standing in the middle of a crowd in Tokyo. Just get reliable gear and enjoy the vacation.
