Should I buy the DJI Pocket 3 creator combo now or wait for Prime Day? I have a trip to Japan in three weeks and really need it for vlogging, but my budget is strictly under $550. Im super satisfied with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Standard for its 1-inch sensor at $519. Alternatively, the GoPro HERO12 Black Action Camera works well if you want ruggedness, though low-light suffers.
Saw this earlier but just getting to reply now. Quick question first: are you planning to do a lot of night vlogging in Tokyo, or is this mostly for daytime walking shots? My attempt to save cash by using alternative gear on my last trip backfired, and honestly, I was pretty disappointed with the results. Here is how they compared:
- Sony ZV-1 Vlogging Camera: The colors are nice, but unfortunately the active stabilization crops the frame too tight for hand-held vlogging without an extra grip.
- DJI Pocket 2 Gimbal Camera: It easily fits the budget now, but the older 1/1.7-inch sensor was not as good as expected in low light, and the internal mic preamps had issues with background hiss. Going cheaper means making compromises on sensor size or stabilization, which really sucks for a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
