Where can I find the best Canon R6 Mark II deals? I'm so stoked to upgrade before my sisters wedding in NY next month but I'm struggling.
I saw cheap ones on eBay but people say gray market warranties are useless and B&H is still full price. My budget is $2200 max... am I missing a secret sale?
I was in the same boat last year before a big trip. I ended up scouting a few different places to stay under that $2200 mark. Personally, I would skip the eBay gray market risk since those warranties are basically non-existent and a wedding is too important to risk gear failure. Here are the three ways I usually go:
- Canon Refurbished: I picked up my Canon EOS R6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera Body here. It often hits $1999 during sales. Pros: full 1-year Canon warranty and looks brand new. Cons: stock vanishes in minutes.
- MPB: They currently have the Canon EOS R6 Mark II Body Used listed for around $2050. Pros: you see the exact shutter count and actual photos of the unit. Cons: only a 6-month store warranty instead of a manufacturer one.
- Adorama: Look for their open-box deals. You can sometimes snag the Canon EOS R6 Mark II Body Open Box for $2150. Pros: it is basically brand new gear. Cons: availability is totally random. Check the refurbished site first, it saved me a ton.
^ This. Also, since you are heading to NY for the wedding anyway, you might want to look beyond just the standard retail price at B&H. In my experience, sticking to authorized dealers is the only way to go for a big event like a wedding because you dont want to risk a gear failure without a real warranty. Honestly, gray market is a nightmare if something actually breaks. Over the years, I have found a few tricks to get under that $2200 mark without losing the protection:
- Try Greentoe. It is basically a site where authorized dealers bid on your offer. I used it for my last lens and saved a ton. If you put in an offer for the Canon EOS R6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera Body at like $2050, an authorized shop might take it just to move inventory. You still get the full Canon USA warranty too which is huge.
- Call the Canon Loyalty Program. This is a bit of a secret, but if you have an old, even broken, Canon camera lying around, you can call their direct support line and ask about the loyalty discount. I have seen them give 10 to 20 percent off MSRP for a Canon EOS R6 Mark II just for being a returning customer. It is worth the 15 minute phone call tbh.
- Look for authorized bundles. Sometimes places like Adorama wont drop the body price, but they throw in $200 worth of stuff you actually need, like a SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB UHS-II SDXC or an extra battery. It kinda offsets the cost if you were gonna buy those anyway. That camera is gonna be perfect for the wedding... the eye tracking is basically magic. Good luck in NY tho, itll be a blast!
@Reply #1 - good point! Check Adorama EDU. The Canon EOS R6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera Body hits $2099. Its 24.2MP sensor is capable. Use Lexar Professional 1667x 128GB SDXC UHS-II cards.
