I am so hyped right now because I finally decided to pull the trigger on a Fujifilm setup. Ive been eyeing the X-T5 for months but man the price tag just doesnt budge. I am currently based in Chicago and planning this huge trip to Japan in October so I really need to get my hands on something before then to practice. I did some digging and checked out the usual spots like B&H and Adorama but their prices are exactly the same as the Fuji official site right now. I keep seeing people on Reddit talk about these legendary refurbished drops on the Fujifilm site but every time I check it is just totally empty or has older stuff like the X-T30. Is there like a specific day of the week they restock those?? I also heard about some places like MPB or KEH for used stuff but I am a bit nervous about buying used since I dont want a sensor with dust or a shutter thats about to give out on me mid-trip. My budget is pretty firm at $1500 for the body and a decent prime lens. Where are people actually finding the deep discounts or coupon codes these days? Or should I just wait for some summer sale I dont know about...

TL;DR: Unfortunately, real discounts on the X-T5 are almost nonexistent right now. To stay under $1500 with a lens, you will likely need to look at the X-T50 or reconsider your budget because prices just arent budging. I went through the same thing trying to hunt down those legendary refurb drops last year. Honestly, it was pretty disappointing. Most of the time the official site is just a ghost town or has gear that isnt worth the savings. I had issues with a used body I bought once from an unverified seller, so I totally understand the fear of sensor dust or shutter failure. It is a huge risk for a bucket-list trip like Japan. The Fujifilm X-T5 40.2MP Mirrorless Camera Body is currently holding steady at its launch price at B&H and Adorama. Since you are in Chicago, I would suggest checking local specialized shops like Central Camera. Sometimes they have better in-store promos or loyalty bundles that arent online. If you want to stay under $1500, a combo like the Fujifilm X-T50 40.2MP Mirrorless Camera Body with a Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2 R WR Prime Lens might be more realistic. You get the same sensor, but you lose the dual card slots and the weather sealing. It is not as good as the T5 for heavy travel use, but it fits your budget better. Just dont expect a massive price drop on the T5 before October; Fuji gear holds its value way too well lately.

Japan in October is gonna be amazing!! Before I dive in, what kind of stuff are you planning to shoot? Street, portraits, or landscapes??
