What is the best all-around lens for the Fujifilm X-T5?

So I finally bit the bullet and grabbed an X-T5 after rocking the X-T2 and X-T3 for years. Love the body, the dials are great and the autofocus is a huge jump but man... that 40MP sensor is a beast. Im finding that my trusty old 18-55mm kit lens just isnt cutting it anymore. It was fine on the older sensors but now everything looks a bit soft when I crop in, especially towards the edges. Its kinda frustrating because I thought that lens was bulletproof but it just cant resolve the detail now.

I’m heading to Tokyo next month and I really want a single-lens setup for the whole trip because I hate swapping glass in crowded places. I do a lot of street stuff but also some landscape when I can get out of the city. Budget is around $900-1100. I was looking at a few options:

  • the 16-55mm f2.8 (everyone says it is heavy for all-day walking though)
  • the 16-80mm f4 (ive heard mixed things about it on the 40mp sensor)
  • maybe the sigma 18-50?

I need something that actually takes advantage of the resolution but isnt gonna kill my neck after 10 miles of walking. What do you guys think is the absolute best all-around lens that can actually keep up with this sensor?

I had such high hopes for the Fujifilm XF 16-80mm f/4 R OIS WR on my T5, but it was unfortunately a total blur fest at the edges. I took it on a trip and was just so bummed looking at the mushy corners. Swapped for the Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR but its massive... my neck actually killed me. The Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary finally saved me tho, it handles the 40MP sensor way better.
