Been shooting Fuji for years and usually I'm a prime lens snob—the 35mm f2 basically lives on my camera. But I just picked up the X-T5 and man that 40mp sensor is really showing the flaws in my older glass. My 18-55 kit lens just looks super soft now which sucks because I'm heading to the Olympic Peninsula next month and need a solid one-lens setup so I don't have to swap in the rain.
I've got about $1000 to spend. Is the 16-55 f2.8 the only thing that actually resolves enough detail for this body or is the 16-80 decent enough for travel? Just looking for the best all around zoom that wont waste the sensor...
You really gotta be careful with that 40mp sensor, it shows every little flaw. I would suggest looking at the Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR because it's the safest bet for resolving detail. Just make sure to consider the weight since there's no OIS. It's built like a tank tho, so it'll handle the rain. You can usually find them used for around $900 online.
