Got a zoo trip in two weeks and need a long lens under $300. I was thinking the XC 50-230mm since its cheap and I read it is sharp, but people say it sucks in low light. Then I saw the XF 55-200 but its way more. Im worried the XC is just too slow for animals...

Unfortunately, I had issues with the Fujifilm XC 50-230mm f/4.5-6.7 OIS II hunting for focus way too much. Its just not as good as expected when animals are actually moving.
- Look for a used Fujifilm XF 55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 R LM OIS for around $300.
- Try renting if you cant find a good deal. Its better to spend a bit more than be sad about blurry pics later on...
