Ugh I am honestly so stuck right now trying to figure out which prime to grab for my X-T4. Ive been shooting Fuji for years and usually stick to my 18-55mm zoom because its versatile but lately its just feeling way too bulky and slow for street stuff here in Chicago especially now that it gets dark at like 4pm. I tried the 23mm f2 but honestly the sharpness wide open at close range was kinda disappointing which I wasnt expecting from all the hype online. I keep looking at the new 23mm f1.4 LM WR but it looks huge and might ruin the point of having a discrete setup... but then the 27mm pancake is so tiny but is the f2.8 too slow for night street shots? I feel like im going in circles here.

My requirements are pretty specific:

  • Needs to be fast enough for night/low light
  • Weather sealing is a huge plus because of the snow and rain here
  • Not trying to break the bank so maybe under $700 used or new
  • Fast AF because I miss too many shots with hunting

Im literally going to New York in two weeks and really wanted to have this sorted by then. Does the f2 series actually hold up for you guys in real world use or should I just suck it up and get the big f1.4 lenses? Idk...

> Does the f2 series actually hold up for you guys In my experience, the Fujifilm Fujinon XF 33mm f1.4 R LM WR is the safest choice. It wont let you down in NYC, and the AF is way more reliable.
