I finally pulled the trigger on the Lumix S5II last week and honestly the autofocus is such a massive upgrade over my old camera, but now Im stuck trying to pick a dedicated portrait prime for a wedding Im shooting in late October. I really want that creamy background look for the couple shots at the park. I've been doing a ton of reading and most people keep pointing towards the Lumix 85mm f1.8 since it matches the other f1.8 primes in size and weight, and I read that the native glass works better with the new phase detect system. But then I see everyone raving about the Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG DN Art and how the rendering is just on another level.

The Sigma is way heavier though and I'm worried about my wrist after 8 hours of shooting, plus it stretches my $900 budget pretty thin if I buy it new. Is the f1.4 really worth the extra weight and cost for the S5II specifically or is the Lumix f1.8 good enough that I wont regret not having the extra light? Or maybe there is a 50mm I should be looking at instead because we might be in some tighter spots during the reception...

I grabbed the Panasonic Lumix S 85mm f1.8 L-Mount for a marathon wedding last fall and it was amazing! My wrist felt great after 12 hours because it only weighs 355g. The linear motor makes AF-C on the S5II feel lightning fast. Plus, that shared 67mm filter thread is fantastic for quick swaps... you wont regret it over the heavier Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG DN Art L-Mount!
