So I finally made the jump from my old D850 to the Z8 a few months ago and while the autofocus is like black magic compared to the old DSLR days, I'm hitting a wall with my glass. I've been using the FTZ adapter with my old 24-70mm G lens and honestly its just bulky and balances weird on the new body. I'm planning this big two-week trip to Kyoto and Tokyo in November and I really don't want to be lugging around a bag full of primes or heavy F-mount zooms like I used to. I want to keep it simple but the quality has to stay high because I'm planning on doing some large prints when I get back.
I was looking at the 24-120mm f4 S because everyone raves about the sharpness but then I see the 24-70mm f2.8 and think maybe I'll miss that extra stop for those dim shrines and narrow alleys at night. Budget isn't a huge deal but I’d like to stay under $2k if possible. Is the 24-120 really enough of a do-it-all lens or am I gonna regret not having f2.8 for the subject separation? What is the best all-around lens for these Z bodies for someone who wants to leave the bag at the hotel and just walk around all day?
