I just got a Sony a7c ii and Im honestly so overwhelmed. Im going to Italy in three weeks and I really need just one lens that does everything because I dont wanna be swapping things out and getting dust everywhere.
I was looking at the 24-70 thing but then I saw a 28-200 and my logic was that 200 is a way bigger number so it must be better for zooming? But then someone said the 24-70 is faster and I have no idea what that even means. My budget is about $900 max and I'm really scared of buying the wrong one and ruining my trip photos... sorry if this is a dumb question.
Honestly, I went through the same thing. I bought the Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD for a trip to Japan and was so satisfied. Faster means it has a wider aperture (lower f-number) to let in more light for night shots. While the 24-70 is better in the dark, having that 200mm reach for street details was a lifesaver. It fits your budget perfectly and kept my sensor clean the whole trip.
