i just bought the sony a7iv because everyone said it was good for beginners but now i am totally lost looking at all these glass things. i have a huge family trip to italy in like three weeks and i dont want to carry around a bunch of stuff so i just need one lens that does everything. maybe something that zooms in and out? i have about 1100 dollars left after buying the camera body and i am seriously stressing out because i dont understand the numbers on the side of the lenses like what does f2.8 even mean lol. sorry if this is a stupid question i just need to know what is the best all-around zoom lens for the sony a7iv?

hey!! i was in your exact shoes last year before a big trip and honestly you 100% want the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 for your a7iv. it fits right in your budget and is seriously amazing for travel! to answer your question about the f2.8 thing... basically that number is the aperture. a lower number like 2.8 means the lens opens up wider to let in more light. this is super important for italy because you will be inside dark churches or taking photos at dinner and you wont even need a flash. it also gives you that beautiful blurry background everyone loves. this lens is way lighter than the pro sony versions too so your neck wont hurt after walking miles. i use mine for everything and it stays on my camera 90% of the time. you are gonna have a blast!!
