Ive been shooting Sony for like five years now and mostly stuck to the Sigma Art line because honestly the GM tax seemed insane. But I just booked a high-end wedding in Chicago for next month and I want that native autofocus speed and the specific look you get from the higher end glass. Ive got about $2,000 saved up specifically for one workhorse lens. I was looking at the 35mm 1.4 but then the 24-70 II came out and now Im just confused if the primes are actually better value or if the zooms have caught up enough to justify the price tag. Which G Master actually gives you the most bang for your buck without just paying for the red badge?
I was honestly disappointed when I tried the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II cuz it was not as good as expected for that price tag. I had issues with the weight on long days. The Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM is the only one that feels worth the cash.
- faster autofocus than Sigma
- much lighter for weddings Unfortunately, most G Master glass is still way overpriced for what you get.
