Ive been shooting on the Sony system for like five years now and usually my 24-70mm GM stays glued to my a7IV for almost everything but I just booked this huge outdoor garden wedding for the end of the month and the couple is really pushing for that super soft, dreamy background look that I just cant quite get at f/2.8. I am honestly spiraling a bit trying to pick a dedicated portrait prime because the stakes are so high for this one and I havent used primes since my old Canon DSLR days. I was looking at the Sony 85mm 1.8 because its light and the AF is snappy but then I see the Sigma 85mm 1.4 DG DN and everyone says the bokeh is way smoother but then I worry about the weight during a 10 hour day. Then there is the 35mm GM but I feel like 85 is better for the flattering compression. I have about 1300 bucks max to spend after my last gear repair and I need to order this thing like yesterday so I can actually practice with the Eye-AF before the big day. Is the 135mm too much? I love the look but I am scared I wont have enough room to back up in the garden area if its tight. Does anyone have experience with which of these really shines on the a7IV for that specific wow factor without being a total nightmare to carry for hours?
> I worry about the weight during a 10 hour day. I once shot a wedding with a heavy setup and my wrist was shot by dinner. You might want to consider the Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG DN Art tho, since the bokeh is way smoother than the Sony FE 85mm f1.8. Just be careful with the 135mm... I actually almost tripped into a pond once trying to back up in a garden!
