Sony has just officially announced three new G lenses: Sony FE 24mm F2.8 G, Sony FE 40mm F2.5 G and Sony FE 50mm F2.5 G lens. They are compact, full-frame prime lenses for Sony E-mount for $598, first available for pre-Order at B&H/ Adorama.
Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G
Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G lens is the widest lens in Sony’s new bunch. It has 8 elements in 7 groups, and uses both aspherical and ED glass. The focus group is driven by a pair of linear motors. The lens’ minimum focus distance is 0.18m (7.1″) and the max magnification is 0.19x. The 24mm F2.8 has a metal housing, an aperture ring with a click/de-click switch, and claimed weather-sealing. It weighs just 162 grams (5.7 ounces).
