John Riley has just posted a full review of the new announced Zeiss Otus 28mm F1.4 lens at the Ephotozine.com. It is the world’s best wide-angle lens for Canon and Nikon mount, with high and very even sharpness, very low CA, lovely “look” to images, beautiful engineering and low distortion. However, this manual lens is for $4,990, available for pre-order at B&H/ Adorama.
Alas!!! The shipment of the new Zeiss Loxia FE 21mm F2.8 lens for Sony E mount is delayed! B&H photo (Click here) has just listed the Loxia 21mm availability date from mid December to mid January, 2016. This means you have to wait for at least one more month. It is a real pity we can’t get it before Christmas.
PhotoRumors posted Some latest Zeiss Loxia/Batis lens rumors:
- One new Loxia lens will be announced in next year (2016), probably around Photokina. The possible focal length is between 85mm-100mm, aperture: f/2.8 or f/2.
- There is no ultra-wide Loxia lenses in the future, because they are very hard to design. The current Zeiss Loxia 21mm f/2.8 is probably the widest angle lens in that product line.
- There are two new Batis lenses in 2016 to fill-up the “holes” in the current lineup.
