Im shooting a wedding in two weeks and need a portrait lens for my R8 asap. My budget is tight around 500 bucks. Torn between the RF 50mm 1.8 and the RF 85mm f2. Should I just save up for the 85 or is the nifty fifty enough for pro work right now?

Honestly, for a wedding, the Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM is definitely the way to go. The extra reach gives you way better compression for portraits.
- The 85mm focal length is way more flattering than the nifty fifty.
- Dont risk it with the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM for pro shoots unless you have no other choice. Just be careful with the autofocus speed on the 85mm, it can be a bit sluggish.

If you are shooting a wedding, dont skimp on the glass. The Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM is honestly the smarter play for portraits. Compression matters for weddings.
- Look for a used Canon RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM on marketplace sites to save cash.
- Be careful with autofocus speed on the 50mm, it hunts a lot in low light.
- Keep your focus reliable, dont risk missed shots.
