So I finally got an R5 and I am beyond stoked to use it for my Utah trip next month. I need a wide angle lens but my bank account is crying after buying the body lol. I saw the RF 16mm f/2.8 is super cheap but people say it's pretty soft in the corners and the distortion is wild. Also looked at the adapted EF 17-40mm f/4 but I'm worried it's too old for the R5 sensor.
- Budget: Under $550
- Use: Landscapes and maybe some astro
- Location: Zion/Bryce Canyon
- Speed: Need it in 3 weeks
What should I actually buy that wont ruin my shots?

Its built well but frankly its way too soft for a 45MP sensor. You might want to consider the Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM instead. Its much sharper and stays in your budget. The Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM is risky because the distortion is pretty severe for Zion landscapes. Stick with the newer zoom to be safe.
