So I'm finally pulling the trigger on a wide angle for my R5 before I head out to Zion and Bryce Canyon in two weeks but I'm honestly just getting more annoyed the more I read. I've been stuck between the RF 14-35mm f4 and the 15-35mm f2.8 and it's making my head spin. My logic was that for landscapes I'm usually stopped down to f8 or f11 anyway right? So why would I pay like $600 extra for the 2.8 version? But then I keep seeing people online saying the 14-35mm has massive distortion that the camera has to fix digitally and that it's not as sharp in the corners which kind of scares me since I want those crisp canyon walls.

I have about 2200 set aside for this but if the 14-35 is actually subpar for a 45mp sensor then maybe I just suck it up and get the heavy one? But I'm gonna be hiking like 10 miles a day and that extra weight is gonna kill my back. Then someone else told me to just get the 16mm prime because it's cheap and light but that feels like a waste on such a nice body. I just want something that is actually going to do the R5 justice without making me feel like I bought a brick for no reason. Is the distortion on the 14-35 actually a dealbreaker for professional looking prints or am I overthinking this...

Honestly, the distortion is a non-issue once the profile is applied in Lightroom. I chose it over the heavy Canon RF 15-35mm f2.8 L IS USM because saving weight on hikes is way more important. It works well and my prints look sharp even in the corners. Youre definitely overthinking it!
