honestly so fed up with this 24-105 kit lens on my RP... its just way too tight for the real estate shots im doing in these tiny apartments and the distortion is driving me crazy. i need a proper wide angle fast but im broke lol.

  • budget is strictly $400
  • mostly for interiors
  • must be sharp

what actually works??

I totally feel you on the 24-105 struggle. I was doing these tiny studio apartment shoots last year and literally backing myself into corners just to get the fridge and the stove in the same frame... it was a nightmare. I ended up grabbing the Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM and honestly ive been so satisfied with it. It is tiny, super light, and fits way under your budget. A few things that worked for me:

  • Always keep the in-camera lens correction on because the native distortion is a bit wild.
  • Stick to f/5.6 or f/8 for interiors to keep those corners crisp.
  • It is wide enough that you actually get the whole room without feeling claustrophobic. I have done dozens of listings with this setup now and havent had a single complaint. It is basically the best bang for your buck for the RP right now if you are broke but need results.
