I just bought the Canon R1 because my brother said it was the best but I had no idea it didnt come with a lens and now Im kind of panicking. I want to take photos of the big mountains when I go to Zion next month but looking at all these lenses is making my head spin.
So I was thinking maybe a big zoom one? But then I saw people talking about wide angles and now I'm just lost. My logic was a higher number is better but I dont know if that works for landscapes. I have about $1000 left and I really dont want to mess this up... what should I even be looking for?
Holy cow, an R1?? That is seriously such an amazing camera!! For Zion, you definitely want a wide angle lens to fit those huge mountains in. Lower numbers like 15mm are way better for landscapes because they see way more of the scene. Check these out:
