I've been eyeing the X-T5 for a trip to Japan but my budget is strictly $1500. I saw some leaks on FujiRumors about seasonal deals but they were super vague. My logic was maybe the X-T30 II gets a bigger cut since it's older? Do Fuji prices actually drop in November or are they usually stubborn...
I have been tracking Fuji price cycles for a decade and honestly, they are super predictable! Last year I grabbed my Fujifilm X-T5 Mirrorless Body Black during the November rush and saved exactly 200 bucks. Fuji usually sticks to a strict instant rebate schedule rather than random deep cuts.
- Flagships like the X-T5 usually drop by $100-$200.
- Older tech like the Fujifilm X-T30 II with 15-45mm Lens sees aggressive bundling deals.
- Check the Fujifilm X-S20 Mirrorless Camera Body if you want that 6.2K video and 7-stop IBIS but need to stay under $1500. I remember taking my gear to Osaka for a street photography binge and having that extra cash for a Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR Lens made a huge difference. The IBIS on the newer bodies is fantastic for those dimly lit shrines... you wont regret waiting for the official drop!
I have been looking at the technical data for these bodies and honestly while the Black Friday rebates are fine, I am not sure a small drop on the X-T5 is your best bet for reliability. I have been super satisfied with the performance of the Fujifilm X-H2 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body lately. It has superior thermal management compared to the T series which works well for long shooting days. I would actually disagree with the X-T30 II recommendation tho. For a trip to Japan you really want proper weather sealing which that body lacks. I have had no complaints with a used Fujifilm X-T4 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body instead. It is built like a tank and uses the better batteries. Quick tips:
- Get a body with dual slots for data redundancy on your trip.
- Grab an extra Fujifilm NP-W235 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery since the older W126S cells in the entry level bodies wont last a full day.

Building on the earlier suggestion about reliability, I think the build quality is really what keeps me loyal to Fuji even when the prices are stubborn. I have used some Canon gear in the past and while it works, it just doesnt have the same tactile feel.
- Fuji dials are way more reliable for quick changes
- Canon menus are easier but the bodies feel bulky
- Sony glass is great but I hate the ergonomics Honestly, ergonomics are everything when you are traveling. I remember this one time I went on a weekend trip to a cabin in the woods and brought way too much gear. I spent more time worrying about my bag than actually hiking. My cousin brought his old film camera and a literal bag of trail mix, and he had a way better time than me. We actually found this abandoned bridge that looked like something out of a movie, but I was so busy swapping lenses that I missed the light. We ended up getting lost for two hours because my phone died and we had to follow the sound of the creek back to the main trail. Anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there. Good luck with the hunt.
I totally get the budget stress! I sat on my hands for months waiting for the holiday price drops last year. When the deals finally went live, I managed to snag my current setup for way less than retail. It was such a rush!
- Discounts usually start mid-November
- Older tech gets the deepest cuts
- Rebates are usually automatic Hang in there because the savings are gonna be fantastic for your trip!!
