Im trying to buy my first real camera for my sisters wedding in October. My budget is super tight, like $1600 max, and I have no idea how camera pricing works, honestly everything online is just so confusing to look at. I have been staring at the Fujifilm X-T5 because my friend said it was good but its just too expensive right now. Sorry if this is a really dumb question but I am totally lost. Is the Fujifilm X-T5 currently on sale anywhere right now or is there like a discount code somewhere I missed...
Honestly, Fuji gear rarely goes on major sales, and the Fujifilm X-T5 Body Black is currently sitting at $1,699 new just for the body. Since you need a lens too, that is going to push you way past your $1,600 limit. Here are a few ways to make this work:
- Buy used. Check sites like MPB or Keh for a used Fujifilm X-T5 Body Black. They usually go for around $1,500, which is still tight but closer to your budget.
- Look at the Fujifilm X-T50 Body Black. It uses the exact same 40.2 megapixel X-Trans 5 sensor and processor as the X-T5, but it is smaller and costs $1,399 new.
- Go with the Fujifilm X-S20 Body Black. It is $1,299, has great autofocus, and leaves you some room for a used lens like the Fujifilm XF 18-55mm f2.8-4 R LM OIS.
I ran into the same issue last year when looking at the Fujifilm X-T5 Body Black. I ended up grabbing a used Fujifilm X-T4 Body Black instead cuz I needed cash for a lens. You might want to consider that route, but definitely be careful and check the shutter count first. Or look at the Fujifilm X-S20 Body Black... it has the same battery and great tracking but costs way less.
@Reply #1 - good point! Yeah, the price of the X-T5 is rough when you actually need to buy a lens too. I was in this exact spot last year trying to shoot my cousins engagement. I wanted the X-T5 but ended up looking at cheaper bodies so I could actually afford a decent lens. Here is what I compared before buying:
Pros: Same 40MP sensor and image quality as the X-T5, way cheaper.
Cons: Lacks weather sealing, only has one card slot, smaller battery.
Pros: Incredible battery life, deep grip feels great, killer autofocus for events.
Cons: 26MP instead of 40MP, uses a standard mode dial instead of the classic retro Fuji dials. Honestly both of these got me close to that $1600 limit with a kit lens. Just something to think about if you want to buy new.
