I've been scouring the web for a7 IV bundles and honestly I'm a bit overwhelmed. I saw the standard B&H kits and Adorama has their own versions too but I'm struggling to tell if the savings are actually real. I read some reviews saying the kit 28-70mm lens is pretty mediocre and I might be better off getting the body solo, but then I see these bundles that throw in extra batteries and fast SD cards which I know I'll need anyway. It feels like they just pack in a bunch of cheap accessories to inflate the value.
Here is what I'm looking at:
- Budget: Around $2800 total for the whole setup
- Timeline: Need it by mid-October for a family wedding I'm shooting in Chicago
- Gear needs: Body + one versatile lens (maybe a 24-105 or a fast 35mm prime)
- Experience: Upgrading from an old Canon rebel so the mirrorless world is new to me
I'm kind of stuck between buying a new bundle or trying to piece it together with used gear from places like MPB or KEH to save a few hundred bucks. Has anyone seen any specific retailers that have a reputation for better bundle value lately? I havent seen the body price drop below $2200 anywhere recently and I'm wondering if I should wait for a flash sale or just bite the bullet now...
Oh wow you are going to absolutely love the jump from a Rebel to the Sony Alpha a7 IV Mirrorless Camera!! It is seriously such a fantastic piece of gear and the autofocus is just amazing! I am always super cautious with those huge generic bundles tho... honestly most of that extra stuff like the cheap tripods or filters is total junk and I wouldnt trust it for a wedding. Safety first for sure!! Personally I think you should skip the kit lens and grab the Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens instead. It is so versatile and the image quality is just beautiful for a wedding environment. Stick to places like B&H or Adorama for the reliability factor too! Just grab a solid card like the Sony TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II 128GB and you will be good to go. Let me know if you need any more help picking stuff out!!
