Where can I find the biggest savings on Nikon Z cameras right now? I'm trying to pick up a Z6 II for a wedding I'm shooting in late October. I live in Oregon so I'm already saving on tax but $2,000 is my hard limit for the body and maybe a kit lens if I'm lucky. I saw B&H has a standard discount right now but then I read on a blog that Nikon's own refurbished site is way cheaper. Problem is the stock there is so hit or miss and I'm worried about the warranty vs a new one from a big retailer. Is there a specific store that usually undercuts the big guys or am I just stuck with the map pricing everyone seems to have...
> then I read on a blog that Nikon's own refurbished site is way cheaper. Honestly, go for the Nikon official refurbished. I grabbed my Nikon Z6 II Body there and it looked brand new. You save hundreds and still get a decent 90-day warranty.
Saw this while scrolling earlier. Tbh since you are in Oregon you already have a leg up, but that MAP pricing is a real pain across the board because Nikon keeps everyone on a short leash. If you want to stay under that 2k limit with a lens and not gamble on the Nikon site stock, you should really look at MPB or KEH instead of the big box stores. I usually buy used gear when I need backup bodies. The big advantage with those sites is they give you a 6-month warranty which actually beats the 90 days you get from Nikon refurb. You can usually snag a Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera Body for around $1300 or $1400 in mint condition. That leaves you plenty of room to grab a used Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S and a fast card like the Lexar Professional CFexpress Type B 128GB. Since its for a wedding, you definitely want that extra cash for batteries or lighting. Stock on the big sites stays flat because Nikon controls it so strictly, but the reputable used market is where the actual deals are. Just make sure you check the condition rating... most stuff listed as Excellent or Like New has barely been touched. Its way more practical than waiting for a sale that might not even happen before your October deadline.
In my experience, Nikon is super strict about pricing so most shops have the same tags. For a wedding though, I wouldnt risk it with anything less than a full factory warranty.
- Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera Body
- Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S Check the bundles at Adorama. They usually toss in a fast memory card or battery for the same price. Since youre in Oregon, those small freebies are basically your best way to save, tbh.
Building on the earlier suggestion, Ive tracked Nikon vs Sony pricing for years and Nikon is usually way more predictable with their rebate cycles. Tbh if you want the absolute bottom dollar price right now without the guesswork...
- Hit up YouTube and search for Nikon Z deals October or something similar. I saw a really good video about this recently that ranked all the big retailers by their discount depth.
- Check out some of those price tracking sites to see the history.
- Honestly just go to the main Nikon USA site and look at their special offers page or promo calendar. I think the video I saw was from one of the big gear reviewers, just search it and it should pop up near the top. Way more info there than I can type out here lol. They usually compare the brand bundles too which is super helpful for weddings.
My buddy told me the exact same thing last week. Guess he was right lol.
