Is the Nikon Z6 II on sale anywhere right now? I've been checking all these different websites and I'm honestly so confused if the prices are actually good or just the regular ones since I'm a total beginner at this.
I finally saved up $1,600 and I'm so excited to start taking photos of my dog and the parks here in Seattle but cameras are so expensive. I really want to buy one before my vacation next month but I don't want to get ripped off. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I have no idea where to look for real deals or if I should just wait for a holiday...
Oh man, you are going to absolutely love shooting in Seattle with that setup! The Nikon Z6 II 24.5MP Mirrorless Camera is a beast for dog photos because the eye-autofocus is actually really solid. Prices have been dropping lately since the Mark III came out, so $1,599 is pretty much the standard sale price right now. Definitely dont pay the old $2k sticker price!
- Check the Nikon refurbished site first to save a few hundred bucks
- Look at retailers for bundles that include a free SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO CFexpress Card
- See if you can find a used body on reputable sites to save even more for lenses I honestly think refurbished is the way to go if you want to stay under that $1,600 limit and still have money left for a lens like the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S. Its totally worth it and the quality is amazing!
Hold on a sec, if your total budget is $1,600, you gotta be careful because the camera body alone is gonna eat almost all of it. You still need glass and fast memory cards before your trip or you wont be taking any photos at all.
- Watch out for 'International Versions' on sites like eBay or random liquidators. If the price for a Nikon Z6 II Body Only is way under $1,500, it probably wont have a US warranty which is a huge risk if something breaks.
- Factor in the media. This camera really needs fast cards to perform, so you will need something like the SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO CFexpress Type B. That is an extra expense people usually forget.
- If $1,600 is your hard limit for everything, I would suggest looking at a Nikon Z5 with 24-50mm Lens Kit. It is much more budget-friendly and leaves you enough cash for a Nikon NIKKOR Z 40mm f/2 which is perfect for those park shots of your dog.
Huh interesting. I had no idea. The more you know I guess 🤷
Regarding what #4 said about "Huh interesting. I had no idea. The more..." - yeah, the learning curve is steep when you are first starting out. Over the years I've tried many different systems, but I always come back to Nikon because they feel more rugged and reliable in my experience. Honestly tho, you mentioning Seattle parks makes me miss the PNW so much. I remember being at Discovery Park years ago and my dog spotted a squirrel while I was mid-shot. He bolted and almost took me and my tripod down into the mud. I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning dirt out of my boots instead of actually taking photos of the lighthouse. The things we do for our pets, right? Anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there
Wait, are you trying to fit a lens into that budget too? Make sure to be careful not to overspend. Just stick with Nikon gear for your dog, they are always reliable.
Great info, saved!
