Ugh, I bought this camera last week for a trip to Chicago next month but I am so lost. The lens it came with is just too bulky and honestly I dont understand all the numbers on it. I want to take cool street photos of people and buildings but everything looks blurry or too zoomed in. My budget is super tight, like under $200 tight, which I know is basically nothing for camera gear.

What is a cheap, simple lens that is good for street photography for a total beginner? I dont even know what focal length means really so please explain it like Im five...

If you want to keep it dirt cheap, check out the Meike 35mm f/1.7 Fujifilm X. It is a manual focus lens, which sounds scary, but it only costs about $70. It is tiny and teaches you a lot about how light works. Otherwise, definitely look at used gear sites like MPB to stretch that $200 budget further.

Focal length is basically how zoomed in the lens is. A small number like 27mm gives a wide view of the street, while a bigger number zooms in. For a tight budget, check out the TTArtisan 27mm f/2.8 AF Fuji X. It is a pancake lens, meaning it is tiny, and it has autofocus for around $150. It is a solid, cheap option to start with. Let me know if you need help with settings.

Omg yes! That TTArtisan 27mm is such a steal and so tiny! If you want autofocus, check these out too:
