Ive been shooting with my X-T3 for a few years now, mostly sticking to the 35mm f2 prime, but I just booked a trip to Iceland next month and realized I really need something wider for these massive landscapes. Im on a pretty tight budget, probably around 400 bucks max since the flight already drained me, and I dont really want to sell a kidney for the f1.4 glass. I see people talking about the Viltrox 13mm or maybe picking up an older Samyang manual focus lens, but Im worried about the distortion at the edges. Has anyone used these budget options for serious landscape work or should I just hold out for a used Fuji 14mm?
Oh man, Iceland is gonna be absolutely unreal! You are going to have the time of your life. Honestly, I totally get the budget stress, but dont sleep on the Viltrox 13mm f/1.4 XF Lens. I took it out to the Rockies last fall and the results were just mind-blowing. It handles the wide stuff so well and is sharp enough that you wont even miss the expensive Fuji glass. I was worried about distortion too, but for landscape work, it really isnt an issue once you tweak it in post. If you can find a used copy, you might even save enough to grab an extra SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC UHS-I Card for all those RAW files you will be shooting!
