What is the best budget wide-angle lens for the Fujifilm X-S20 that wont break the bank because I am seriously stressing out over my upcoming trip? I just upgraded to the X-S20 and spent way more than I should have so now my budget is stuck around $350 max which feels impossible for good glass. I am headed to the Pacific Northwest next month for a big hiking trip and I really want to get those epic mountain landscape shots but I am so scared of buying something that will just be a waste of money. I have been looking at the Samyang 12mm f/2 since its cheap but I read some forum posts saying the autofocus is really inconsistent on the newer Fuji sensors and now I am worried it will hunt while I am trying to film vlogs. Then there is the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 which seems great for the price but is 16mm even wide enough for big views? Some people say it is more like a standard lens and I dont want to get there and realize I cant fit anything in the frame. I am also looking at:

  • the Viltrox 13mm f1.4
  • maybe a used Fuji 10-24mm?

But the used market here in rural Oregon is basically non-existent and I am nervous about buying from strangers online. Does anyone actually use the Samyang on the X-S20 or should I just try to find more money somewhere...

Honestly, I was in the exact same boat hiking through Glacier last year! I grabbed the Viltrox AF 13mm f/1.4 XF and it totally saved my trip. It is super sharp for the price and the autofocus is snappy for vlogging.

  • way better than the Samyang - 13mm is perfect for those wide PNW views - fits your $350 budget perfectly
