Best lens for landscapes on Fujifilm X-T2?

Hey everyone — I’m looking for some advice on picking a landscape lens for my Fujifilm X-T2. I’ve been shooting mostly with the 18–55 kit zoom and it’s been solid, but I’m starting to feel limited when I’m out hiking and trying to capture wider scenes (mountain vistas, coastlines, and big sky sunsets). I’m not sure if I should go for a dedicated wide prime or a wider zoom.

A couple things I’m trying to balance: I usually shoot on a tripod at f/8–f/11, but I also like having something light enough for long walks. I don’t shoot much astro, but I do occasionally stay out for blue hour, so decent corner sharpness and flare resistance would be great. Weather sealing would be a nice bonus since I’m often in windy or misty spots.

Budget is flexible but I’d prefer to stay around $500–$800 unless there’s a really strong reason to spend more. Given the X-T2, what lens would you recommend for landscapes, and why (prime vs zoom, and what focal length range works best in real use)?

Oh man, been there—hiking + tripod + wind is realy a vibe. Quick q’s: do you need weather sealing for misty/coastal stuff, and how wide do you actually want (ultra-wide “big sky” or just a bit wider than your kit)?

Works great for me

For your situation, I’d suggest a wide zoom first. I’ve used Fujifilm XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR hiking and it’s basically made for X-T2 landscapes: nice corners at f/8-ish, good flare control, WR, and super flexible framing on a tripod. If you wanna go lighter/cheaper, Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R is sooo sharp, but you’ll miss zooming, you know? 10–24 is the safer bet imo, right?

+1 on the Fujifilm XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR — honestly the flexibility beats a prime on a tripod; if you want smaller/cheaper, the Fujifilm XF 14mm f/2.8 R is ridiculously sharp by f/8 (just no WR).

Yep been there done that. Can confirm everything said above is spot on.
